XtraTime in Poringland opened in September 2010, and is registered to provide childcare
for children aged 3 to 11 years. It is open from 3.00pm until 6.00pm weekdays, during
term time. XtraTime is an extension to Poringland Playgroup registration with ofsted
to provide extended childcare.
We are based at Poringland Village Hall, which is situated near to the school. The
large hall is used for snacks, crafts, construction, creative play, using the computers,
film watching and book reading, etc. The small hall is used for physical play. We
have access to a fully fenced, secure outdoor area , which we look to develop over
a period of time, including a gardening area
Aims The club aims to provide a safe and secure and relaxed environment for the children
in our care. We endeavour to provide an atmosphere and activities similar to those
found within the home.
What we offer
We offer a wide range of activities, incorporating cookery, craft, gardening, board
games, reading, imaginary play, construction, sports and much more. During their
time at the club children choose activities that suit them best.
We plan to offer multi sports sessions with a qualified, fully insured sports coaches,
and other regularly visiting professionals to undertake various activities such as
cookery, gardening, and specialist arts and crafts.
We also plan to have trips out to places like the swimming pool, cinema, bowling
on occasions – These May incur a small additional charge.
Out of School Club is staffed by a Manager, Playleader and two Playworkers. In additional
we have volunteer staff, and sessional professionals who work various days. The aim
is to provide a smooth transition between school and club. We also have bank staff
available to cover absences, when regular staff are ill or attending courses. All
our staff have significant experience of working with children, and comply with EYFS
requirements for registered childcare. All staff are expected to undertake professional
development update training. All staff members are checked through the Criminal Records
Bureau. We maintain a staff/child ratio of 1: 8 for children under the age of eight,
in line with statutory requirements. Staff have close links with the school, with
the aim to provide a smooth transition between school and club.
