Fee Rise
As from 2nd January my hourly rate for the first child will be increased to £3.25 an hour, for the second or subsequent children will still remain at £2.50
More Training!!!
From January I am extending my current N.V.Q to include ‘Playworker’ also at a level 3 standard, which covers children up to 16 years. This will entail me carrying out a few more observation on the older children this time.
Unfortunately for daytime children on a Friday it will mean me not being available once a month on a Friday for 6 months. I can still do before and after school on these days!!
Dates; Friday 19th January, Friday 9th February, Friday 9th March,
Friday 20th April, Friday 11th May, Friday 15th June
N.V.Q Assessor.
For anyone who doesn’t know, I was accepted as a N.V.Q Assessor in August this year. I have not really started properly yet but I am hoping to in January with the launch of the new courses.
A few changes
Ofsted now requires any infectious illness, (especially sickness and Diahorrea) for under 5’s to have 72 hrs off Playgroup, Nursery or Childminder, before their return. This changes to 48 hrs for over 5’s.
I now have a new complaints policy, procedure and form, a copy of which is available on request.
Thanks for your continued support.

Newsletter – spring 2005
Karen’s holiday dates for your diary.

For the two week holiday at the beginning of November, Hayley will still be working at my house, along with Jo if required. We should be able to accommodate all our current children for this period, bearing in mind some will be at school by then, and some hours will be changed. We will sort this out nearer the time!
Working towards N.V.Q 3
As you probably know Hayley and I are working towards our N.V.Q 3. After Easter I will be working at Poringland Playgroup on Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning as Supervisor cover. This will not affect the care given to the children who come on those days. We should be finished and fully qualified by the summer. We are still planning to continue to work as childminders in the foreseeable future, but we have got plans for expansion!!
Themed weeks
We would like to introduce some structured activities to our days. To help with this we have given each week a theme to help us along with our planning.
21st February - Ourselves
28th February – Being kind and Helpful
7th March – Lets Dance!
14th March – Nursery rhyme characters
21st March –Easter &crafts
We may also be doing daily diaries for a few of the younger children. Some of this information will go towards our N.V.Q work. You will be informed if we are keeping a diary on your child, and we welcome your input to it too. They will be kept here, and you are welcome to view them at any time.
Many thanks for all your help and support
